Crystal Huie Arnold
My paintings from the Vase Series are dedicated to my sister Kim Lee Davis that lost her battle with breast cancer this year (2011). She was a great artist, art educator (for over 28 years), mother, wife, sister, best friend and encouraged me to pursue the fine arts. Our mother Dorothy Huie was our first art teacher. We both grew up in a creative household that encouraged us to pursue our creative talents in the arts. Therefore, my art is a personal reflection of my life experiences – I am a survivor. I surrender my creative experiences with color to illustrate my journey in photography, painting, drawing and
sculpture. I rely on the power of my spiritual walk, my faith and life experiences to explore the various unique environments that will illustrate colorful images frozen in time. These images provide a quiet sanctuary of inner healing, peace and joy. My art is expressed through the abstract use of color that is vividly shifting and impacting the visual images. I place a great amount of emphasis on color in my compositions. The colors vibrate, highlight, interact and move on my working canvas with expressive and abstract ideals.
